Gaspé

With some 150 kilometers of shorelines open to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Gaspé is definitely one of the most maritime cities in Quebec, which gives it a major advantage in maritime trade and transshipment

 Gaspé is a city at the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula in the region of eastern Quebec, Canada. The city, which has a population of 15 000 inhabitants, opens out on 150 km of wide open spaces over the Gaspe Peninsula, in  the Saint Lawrence gulf.  With various transport’s infrastructures (port, station, airport) and with two entrepreneurship parks, Gaspé develops its economical activity. To the traditionnal fishing, forestry, and tourism economy, the market sees new branches of industry developing as wind power, petroleum prospecting for oil, or international crusing.
In 2012, the city will celebrate the tenth’s anniversary of a sportive and cultural event : The Traversée de la Gaspésie en ski de fond (TDLG) an unique event in the world. The TDLG is an unforgettable week of cross-country skiing in the enchanting setting of the Gaspé Peninsula in winter, open to skiers as young as 7 years of age. In 2010, the group’s doyenne was 73!
