LES AMIS DE JACQUES CARTIER
The Limoëlou Manor is the only existing property which belonged to Jacques Cartier, the discoverer of Canada in 1534. This famous explorer, born in Saint-Malo, opened this vast continent to France by navigating the Saint-Lawrence River as far as Montreal.
Mr. David Macdonald Stewart, president of the Stewart Foundation, an outstanding collector and enthusiastic historian, bought the Limoëlou Manor in the name of the company “Amis de Jacques Cartier”.
The objectives are:
* Preserve and reactivate the memories of the discovery expeditions to the “Land of Canada” made by the famous navigator Jacques Cartier, and collaborate in the management of the Manor.
* Maintain privileged relations between the French and Canadian associations to collaborate with both countries in economic and cultural matters.
*Be associated, without any political aim or discrimination, in cultural and French Language actions in all the provinces of Canada.
