TRONDHEIM KOMMUNE

Trondheim is a modern city with internationally renowned educational institutions and an important centre for maritime, technological and medical research.

The City of Trondheim is situated in Central Norway in the community of Trøndelag and is the dominent city in that area for a total population of approximately 450.000. The city council counts 85 representatives and the local and regional authorities share responsibility within education, culture and transport.
165.000 residens are living in Trondheim but being an important university city, 30.000 students are doing their higher education degree here as well - 20.000 of them at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Due to this university and many other research and academic institutions, Trondheim is Norway's technological development and innovation centre.
Trondheim is known for its rich cultural activities, but it really comes into its own as a festival city. On average there are two festivals a month all year around i.e. jazz festival, blues festival, chamber music festival, film festival, literature festival, student festival just to mention a few.
