Sønderborg wishes to become one of the most dynamic and attractive growth centres in the fields of business development, human well-being and culture by 2020. That is why the local govenment focuses on two broad development themes: The University city for Everyone and The Landscape for Everyone.

Environment and energy
The objective of Project Zero is to make the Municipality of Sønderborg carbon-neutral by 2029 and to ensure that it will be a growth and development area in which architecture, cultural heritage and functionality are consistent with this goal.

CANDIDATURE VILLE EUROPEENNE DE LA CULTURE
Sonderborg sera candidate pour être Ville Européenne de la Culture en 2017, en collaboration avec la région du Jutland du sud et du Schleswig. Cette candidature est basée sur une histoire commune.
